Boxes are Boxes right? Wrong!

Moving Boxes

When it comes time to shop around for boxes it seems many put little effort into shopping around. I once used to think a box is a box. That's of coarse before I discovered Two Men And A Truck boxes...Lets dive into the perks of these amazing boxes!
We offer a wide selection of competitively priced moving boxes. Our small boxes are 1.5 cubic ft. These are our smallest boxes and are often referred to as the book or record box. The best way to utilize this box would be placing heavy items such as books, records, cans, jars of food, utensils, flatware, heavy kitchen appliances etc. Our medium boxes are 3 cubic ft. These are often referred to as lamp or lamp shade boxes. We suggest placing items that are not so heavy in these boxes such as lamps, lamp shades, bakeware, pots, pans, etc. Our large boxes are 4.5 cubic ft. As the box gets larger in size keep in mind to place lighter objects such as pillows, bedding, stuffed animals, etc. If heavy items are placed in large boxes it does make it difficult to move. We also offer wardrobe boxes. These boxes allow clothing to be transported on hangers.  This box comes with a metal rod along the top of the box and are very time effective with packing. We also utilize the bottoms of these boxes for shoes, blankets, or any miscellaneous closet items. (we also rent these boxes) Dish packs, also called barrel or dish barrels. This is our strongest box available. We suggest packing fragile items such as china or dish sets. These boxes are mostly used for kitchen items. These boxes come with dish pack inserts. These are cardboard cells (dividers) that go inside dish pack boxes to form individual cells for fragile items. Inserts are customizable to accommodate any size or shape. Our cell packs also contain extra cardboard pieces to be used as spring board cushion.

Some of the packing supplies we offer include packing tape, packing paper, bubble wrap, and mattress bags.
  • Packing Tape we offer is specially designed to withhold heavy boxes with ease!
  • Packing paper used to wrap everyday items to prevent scratching while items are boxed. Also when crunched up can be used as cushion for any items that may be oddly shaped or inbalanced.
  • Bubble wrap is used to add extra cushion to protect items being placed in boxes.
  • We also offer mattress bags! Mattress bags are great for protecting your mattress during the move. (no one likes a stained mattress)
We also offer local box delivery with a minimum of $50 box and packing supply order. We are well aware that box estimating can be tricky so we buy our boxes back! We offer a full refund of any unused boxes. We also have a box calculator available upon request to estimate the amount of boxes that may be needed. Give us a call today if you are in need of any boxes or packing supplies!

Giving Back

Giving back to the Community is what we are all about!
We at Two Men And A Truck love to give back to the community in which we are based. We believe that by first building a solid foundation, we ultimately will be able to do great things within our community. Strengthening our community by partnerships is what we believe. Giving back to the community has been a part of our company long before it was a core value for us. Our founder Mary Ellen Sheets' first year in business, she donated her profit to 10 different charities. It is this giving spirit that gives us the title the Movers Who Care. We instill in all of our employees the importance of giving back and withholding that title of being the Movers Who Care. We had the honor of partnering with Churches United this past week for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. We had the honor of collecting donations by offering our services to this great event. We enjoyed cookies and hot cocoa while collecting donations. What a way to get treated and welcomed! We had a great time getting involved and seeing our employees reactions first hand in the spirit of giving. We filled our truck with donations that would be dispersed to 25 of our local shelters. The results made our hearts smile. We look forward to many more partnerships in the future with Churches United. The organization was such a pleasure to work with....so welcoming and warm. Stay tuned for upcoming events and how you can help. Happy Holidays from our Two Men And A Truck family to yours!

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train
Join us this Saturday December 3rd in Downtown Davenport (Freighthouse) at 12:30 p.m. We will be attending as well as volunteering our services for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train. One of the best ways to kick-off the Holiday Season here in the QC! This event consists of seasonal festivities and a free concert. Canadian Pacific has turned a boxcar into a traveling stage-and trust me its something beautiful to see! The purpose is to raise money, food, and awareness for local food banks. This event was founded in 1999. They have covered over 100,000 miles, have raised close to $12 million, and collected 3.9 million pounds of food since the start of this program in 1999. We are so greatful to have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing cause! We encourage all attendees to bring non-perishable food items or even cash donations to support our community. Every pound of food and dollar raised at each stop stays with the local community to help those in need. How awesome is that? Come join us, Churches United, and Canadian Pacific, in our efforts to make a difference one stop at a time! We hope to see you there!

Give Thanks with a grateful heart.

Give Thanks this Holiday Season
Tis' the season to gather with Family and friends. A day we set aside to reveal what we are truly thankful for. Family, friends, a job, home, health, and even something as simple as that favorite dish your aunt makes every year. Thanksgiving is the holiday full of laughter, sharing memories, and living in the moment. We all partake in different traditions which make our holiday season special. Some prepare for the holiday by attending parades or holiday events, rushing to the grocery store for every possible necessary ingredient for that special dish, or even rearranging homes to accommodate that big family dinner everyone looks forward to every year. We all celebrate in different ways, but what is so similar is everyone coming together and appreciating the presence of family. Being thankful for your surroundings and everything life has had to offer thus far. It seems we all have the gleaming light shining within us during this holiday season. We all have this urge to let this light gleam on all of those we love and appreciate. To give thanks to the ones we treasure with no expected return. The satisfaction received by seeing that one family members face light up when you hold the dish their tummies so desire and look forward to every year. To see that niece or nephew run outside as soon as they see their favorite aunt or uncles car pull in the driveway. To the hardworking men who finally find time to gather and watch that football game with family who share the same excitement. To the women who love to be in the kitchen filling it with love. To the children who are creating lasting  memories. This is what Thanksgiving is all about. Sometimes special moments may not be seen, but felt. No matter what traditions your holiday season holds, remember to enjoy time with family. From our Two Men And A Truck family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

The Lighting Of The Commons

Start off the Holiday Season right!

One way here in Quad Cities to kick-off the Holiday Season is to attend the annual community event The Lighting of the Commons. This event takes place on Saturday November 19th from 3;30p.m.-6p.m. in downtown Moline, Il (John Deere Pavillion). This event just seems to kick everyone into the Holiday spirit and warms the heart! Santa and Mrs. Clause will be attending this event. How exciting for the children?! They host tractor-drawn wagon rides for everyone. What would the festivities be without tunes?  This event contains live music featuring the Moline Boys Choir & community outreach. There will also be a designated are for children to get creative with crafts as well as check out new model tractors! And of coarse The lighting ceremony and fireworks are the traditional Grand Finale of this annual festive event. Come out and enjoy complimentary cider, hot cocoa, and cookies!

Giving Back to the Community

Giving Back to the Community...

Here at Two Men And A Truck we hold true value in giving back to the community, in which each franchise is based. We believe in strengthening the community by building partnerships with local non profit organizations. We have a number of community support programs we run-Mover's For Moms, Movers For Military, Movers For Meals, Movers For Mutts, and Truckload Of Warmth. We also participate in other outreach programs across the country such as Toys For Tots, United Way, and Habitat For Humanity. The opportunity to give back to the community and help those in need is a core value that we at Two Men And A Truck hold near to our hearts.

A quick overview of what our outreach programs consist of and our purpose:

Movers For Moms: Every Spring our locations across the country collect donations and personally deliver them to local women and family shelters on or before Mother's Day. We partner with local shelters, schools, and other community organizations to collect goods and necessities the shelter may be in need of. We do our best to help make Mother's Day special for moms living in shelters during this time of year.

Movers For Military: We take Veteran's Day as a time to honor the courageous men and women who have  proudly served our country. It is unfortunate that many Veterans do experience tough times and need the help of local shelters. We partner with local schools, businesses, and Veterans shelters to begin collecting essential care items each Fall and deliver them to shelters the week of Veterans Day. We aim high to provide critical assistance to local Veterans in crisis-We are the Movers Who Care.

Movers For Meals: We host a drive called Movers For Meals during the Fall. Our mission is to help local families facing hunger crisis. This outreach program runs from October and ends just before Thanksgiving. We have high hopes in putting more food on the tables by partnering with schools, businesses, food pantries, and local shelters. We collect non-perishable food items for those in need. We strive for our community the best way we can to ensure more people in the community do not go without.

Movers For Mutts: Our goal for Movers For Mutts is to help local animal shelters house and support stray animals. This program is hosted during the Fall. We partner with local businesses, schools, and organizations to collect essential items the shelter and animals are in everyday need of.

Truckload Of Warmth: This outreach program is dedicated to supporting local shelters with winter clothing items. We partner with local schools, businesses, and organizations to collect winter clothing items. This includes new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and other items that would help those in need stay warm during the Winter months. This program is still fairly new, yet successful. We strive to keep our community warm during the winter months.

Moving during the holiday season...

Moving during the Holidays.
Moving during the holiday season can be very stressful. That's where we come in...let us take the stress out of your next move! When it comes to packing we suggest going through items to be sure they are items you are in need of and still use. If they do not fall into that category we suggest placing them to the side for going through after the necessities are packed. The whole idea is to minimize what is packed to simplify your move and essentially save cost for your move. The biggest concern when moving during the holidays is having to juggle holiday traditions with must-do's of moving. The holidays are filled with decorating, recitals, and holiday parties. There is no need to completely shut out these traditions, but to prioritize. One factor of the holidays is decorating. Consider placing a smaller tree up for easy disassembly. We also recommend keeping outside holiday décor to a minimum by decorating only the porch in some way. This will leave some time for packing and keeping the take-down process less time consuming. We also suggest hiring your movers a month in advance, given most companies may have limited hours during the holiday season. Now once every item has been packed in your home go back to the items that were set aside. these items can be candidates to sell, give to a family member, or donate. This essentially minimizes move cost and clutter for the unpack. Once moved into your new home feel free to bask in the glow of your own accomplishments. You have just successfully completed a holiday move! Its normal to want to dive right into unpacking and settling into your new home. We recommend holding off on unpacking the entire home, and only unpacking the necessities until after the holidays. Allow time to relax, unwind, and enjoy the rest of the holiday season. So as you can see by adjusting some of your holiday plans, minimizing clutter, and preparing ahead for movers; a Holiday move is possible! All of these suggestions are in place to help minimize the stress of the move during the busy Holiday season. We hope these tips help....Happy moving!
